Chinese Ambassador hosts Iftar for UTG, Guizhou University

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to The Gambia, H.E. Mr Zhang Jiming last Thursday hosted Ifar and buffet dinner for officials of the University of The Gambia (UTG) and Guizhou University of China in honor of the recent partnership between the two universities. The event was held at the Chinese Embassy in Bijilo.
Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Zhang Jiming expressed delight and honour to host such an important event during the Holy month of Ramadan.
He also expressed appreciation and thanks to the minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology for his support in cementing Gambia-China relations.
He went on to thank the Vice Chancellor of the University of The Gambia for his assistance in pursuing concrete partnership between the two universities.
He also thanked all those who contributed in ensuring that The Gambia-China relations reached a new height.
The partnership between the two universities, he said, is a demonstration of the fruitful bi-lateral relations that binds the two countries.
H.E Jiming acknowledged that the partnership will further strengthen cultural, tradition and cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, Vice President of Guizhou University of China, Zhang Dalin, returned gratitude to everyone for the hospitality accorded to them during their stay in the country.
He revealed that they had fruitful meetings with relevant authorities, who expressed their readiness to implement the areas of agreements.
He expressed hope that in future they will receive their UTG partners in China as well as hope that the partnership will continue to grow in future.
Prof. Faqir Muhammed Angum, Vice Chancellor of the University of The Gambia commended Ambassador Jiming for his support to the University of The Gambia especially in fostering a cordial relationship with the university.
He also expressed gratitude to the delegation from Guizhou University of China.
Minister of Higher Education Research Science and Technology Hon. Badara Joof said acquiring worthwhile knowledge is not only a task of self-help but also mutual help, saying Ambassador Jiming has created the pillars of the bridge for the partnership between the two universities and for Gambia’s academia, culture and tradition to cross to China and vice-versa.
